Prizegiving PhotosThis weekend saw the first Summer Fide Congress held at Basingstoke Country Hotel. The event was split into several parts, with Saturday 6th seeing day one of the two-day FIDE, with a junior training day held in a separate room. The training day was a lot of fun, which is so important to ensure they are totally engaged, ending with the children (very excitedly & noisily!!) applying their new skills and strategies to a fun hand and brain tournament. The coaches were GM Nick Pert and IM Richard Pert - both a great inspiration for the children! Day two included rounds four and five of the FIDE event and a six round junior rapidplay held across three sections. Results from the FIDE event can be viewed on Chess Results: - U1900 - http://chess-results.com/tnr454076.aspx?lan=1&art=4 - U2200 - http://chess-results.com/tnr454075.aspx?lan=1&art=4 Results from the junior rapidplay can be viewed below. We had another great tournament, training day and London Junior Chess Championships Qualifying Sections at Wellington College yesterday, with 140 children playing across 6 sections, and an additional 12 parents playing in the parents event. All of the children behaved impeccably, the playing hall was quiet and there was an excellent friendly atmosphere experienced by all. We were very proud of how well all of the children behaved! The results are available to download below, along with a few photos of the prize winners. Results![]()

We had another fantastic event on Sunday with 150 children playing in five sections. The venue was stunning and the chess equally impressive. All of the children played incredibly well and there was a great sporting atmosphere throughout the day, with friendships made and valuable experience gained. There was brilliant participation in the training sessions, which were split into a lower level and higher level group to ensure all the children spent the day learning about and playing chess. Trainers included Grandmaster Nick Pert, IM & Women Grandmaster Dagme Ciukstye and Crowthorne Chess Club's Colin Purdon. The results are available to download below, as are a few photos of the prizegiving. The next event will be held at Wellington College on Sunday 18th November and will include improvers, U8 LJCC, U10 LJCC, U12 LJCC and U18 sections.
